Welcome to the Home Page of the Wessex Model Flying Club. For 48 years the Club was known as Warminster & District Radio Control Flying Club and some of the founding members remain members to this day. The name changed in 2017 to better reflect the wider area covered by our membership and our multi-site flying locations.

The Club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) and all members carry full insurance. BMFA protects the interests of model flyers throughout the UK and lays down safety procedures and practices to which the Club strictly adheres.

The club encourages most sections of the hobby and whilst fixed wing flying is the largest interest there is an active helicopter group. Although we have some members whose interests lie with large and exotic scale models, most members are content to buy ready-built models from the local hobby shops or construct from a plan.

New members are welcome whether or not they posses model flying experience and we have training models available so that flying can be taught, hands on, within minutes of reaching the airfield with no previous knowledge. Several dedicated instructors will help to develop the necessary skills to enable flyers to safely control a model aircraft through all the different phases of a flight. Not only is this the safest path to the hobby but also the least costly.

We are a friendly club and our members all share a common interest in model aviation. If you would like to become involved with like-minded people, visit our Contacts page and get in touch. We will arrange to meet up and introduce you to the delights of model flying.

A friend who I had helped get started in our hobby has decided that with his other interests and hobbies, he cannot give the time to aeromodelling that he would have liked. So, he has decided to sell the 'starter' kit for sale that I helped him to put together. So, here for sale - A Hobbyzone Carbon Cub (yellow, grey, black) complete with motor, ESC, and all servos. A Futaba T6EX 6 channel FASST Transmitter and a R617FS FASST Receiver in the model.I put a new NiMh 9.6v 6 cell battery in the transmitter and bought a new Fusion NX83 wall charger to charge it.The model was a 'January sale' item - I changed the prop for a new one and set it up - maidened and trimmed it at Keevil in the run up to Christmas last year. It has not flown since. My buddy is just looking to get back what he paid for it all which is £140 - not a bad price for a complete ready to go trainer eh? and it comes with a couple of 2300mAh lipos too.If interested, or you know someone starting out and needs a 'first rig' let me know. The photo is a 'stock' photo - not the actual model - just for reference.Cheers guys. ... I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Joe Smith who stayed on after the flying finshed on Saturday evening and mowed the patch to within an inch of it's life to prepare it for yesterday's event. Joe, thank you :-)Here's a few photographs courtesy of John Bishop that have just come in - a selection from yesterday's BMFA Centenary Challenge. ... See MoreSee Less

Well, guys - there's bound to be a number of reports, photos and the like coming up on here very shortly - but for now - what a fantastic event today. In celebration of the BMFA Centenary Guinness World Record Attempt, at 12 o'clock we had 22 model aircraft in the air at the same time. For me personally, the best bit was the team spirit and the camaraderie of everyone who turned up on what could have easily been a washout but we did so well. My personal thanks to everyone who supported this - thank you John Bishop for helping out with the 'balsa' bashing fun bit and the group photographs that are yet to come. Thanks also to Richard Holloway for this video at the end. A couple of other shots - my final airspace map which we used on site + the clock and some building of the hand gliders.www.facebook.com/100007208538052/videos/442891390978137/ ... See MoreSee Less
