Well here it is guys - the results are in - - - - - :-)Drumroll please... an update from our Records Officer, Simon Vaitkevicius about the BMFA Centenary Record Attempt – Results and final participation numbers!Plot spoiler... we nailed it!"On the 15th May 2022 BMFA members across the UK came together at 12 noon to collectively attempt to set a new record for the greatest number of model aircraft of all types in the air at one time at BMFA affiliated clubs around the UK. The attempt was one of a number of events celebrating the BMFA / SMAE Centenary.I am pleased to report after checking the submitted results from each of the clubs participating that we had a total of 3109 models in the air at 12 noon and that 263 BMFA affiliated clubs took part. We have therefore achieved a new BMFA National absolute record. I will be submitting a dossier to the FAI for the issue of the Diploma to acknowledge the achievement and, when successfully issued, apply for a World Record. I would like to thank everyone who participated and the clubs hosting the attempt. It has been a fantastic event and has exceeded my expectations for participation and enthusiasm for all involved. Clubs around the country have made the event more than just a flight around 12 noon. Some have opened their doors to non-club modellers, some have held social events, some airshows, and some used it as a chance to engage fliers of all ages. It has been a superb community building activity.I would also like to thank the press and TV for all of the coverage which has been achieved, which has given positive exposure to the sport.I plan to hold an ‘In the air’ webinar briefing on the event sometime in early July to give an update on the FAI Diploma and provide some statistics for the event. We also would like your viewpoint as well and there will be an opportunity to share thoughts and good practice. More details will follow. Thank you all again for making the attempt so successful.Yours SincerelySimon Vaitkevicius – BMFA Records Officer23rd May 2022"100.bmfa.org/ ... See MoreSee Less

A friend who I had helped get started in our hobby has decided that with his other interests and hobbies, he cannot give the time to aeromodelling that he would have liked. So, he has decided to sell the 'starter' kit for sale that I helped him to put together. So, here for sale - A Hobbyzone Carbon Cub (yellow, grey, black) complete with motor, ESC, and all servos. A Futaba T6EX 6 channel FASST Transmitter and a R617FS FASST Receiver in the model.I put a new NiMh 9.6v 6 cell battery in the transmitter and bought a new Fusion NX83 wall charger to charge it.The model was a 'January sale' item - I changed the prop for a new one and set it up - maidened and trimmed it at Keevil in the run up to Christmas last year. It has not flown since. My buddy is just looking to get back what he paid for it all which is £140 - not a bad price for a complete ready to go trainer eh? and it comes with a couple of 2300mAh lipos too.If interested, or you know someone starting out and needs a 'first rig' let me know. The photo is a 'stock' photo - not the actual model - just for reference.Cheers guys. ... The very airplane that I copied onto my Dynam Dakota DC3 has left the UK for the States.... a sad day.**Notice to DDS-Squadron members** - as off yesterday the US has gained another airworthy C-47 Skytrain. The ex English 'Air Atlantique' Douglas C-47B Dakota ‘KK116’ (G-AMPY), left her home base Coventry Airport, UK bound for the US. She routed via Iceland and Greenland and landed at Goose Bay airport (YYR) Canada yesterday. She departed the next day for her new owner at the West coast. This C-47 will be kept airworthy and operated as part of the 'Dakota Airlift Foundation'. Her construction number is 26569/15124, she was Built in 1943 and allocated US Military serial ’43-49308’ and flew with the RAF serial ‘KK116’. After WW2 she was assigned to 435Sqn and took part in the legendary Berlin Airlift carrying much-needed food and supplies to the besieged population of the German capital. We wish her a save flight and a great home coming! ... See MoreSee Less
